Jun 13, 2019 How to Calibrate the Colors on a Mac. To calibrate the colors on your Mac, click the Apple menu → click System Preferences → click Displays → click the Color tab → click Calibrate to start the color calibration tool.
In September last year, I bought an iMac 18,3 with a 27' Retina 5K display to replace a 2008 Mac Pro that had had an unrecoverable hardware failure. It came with macOS Sierra installed even though macOS High Sierra had been released at the time of purchase. I upgraded the system to macOS High Sierra.
I upgraded the iMac to macOS Mojave yesterday. The problem that I've encountered is that the colors displayed in applications and on web pages have changed. When you select the light mode, the menu bar and the frame around each application window are, essentially, white instead of the silver grey that they were under macOS High Sierra. Black text displayed in each window is barely readable as black has become a shade of gray. Other text colors have become much lighter than they had been under macOS High Sierra.
You're are effectively forced to switch to dark mode. Unfortunately, if the application window had a white background, text is harder to read as it is still lighter than it was under macOS High Sierra. In addition, there seems to be a shift in the colors that are displayed. When I access my brokerage web site's holdings page, the gold or dark yellow box that listed my accounts has changed to a light yellow. If I access CBSN Live to watch news videos, the skin tones have all changed. A CBSN news announcer, Rhianna Ninan's face has changed from a brown skin tone to a yellow skin tone. Those with 'whiter' skin tones now appear to be much more reddish than under macOS High Sierra.

If I watch an iTunes movie, I find that I have to diddle with the brightness controls as the videos are much darker under macOS Mojave.

I've already received updates to some applications that have implemented changes to support dark mode. The solution in most cases has been to change the background from white to a dark color and have text displayed in white or in a light contrasting color. Of course, this provides no help for videos and web sites where colors are displayed incorrectly.
How does one change the color gamut used by macOS Mojave so that colors are displayed correctly in both light and dark modes?
