Lastpass Mac App Not Working

Oct 07, 2016  Microsoft Edge has always been installed, it was the Lastpass extension that was uninstalled and would not install. The extension itself is now installed and my current issue is that the Lastpass extension is all grayed out like in the screenshot below, nothing happens when I click the icon and it does not save or fill in any usernames or passwords. To unlock the LastPass app with your fingerprint via the Touch Bar, follow the steps below: Setup Touch ID for your Mac if you have not already; Enable “Use Touch ID” in Preferences (as pictured above). When unlocking the app or accessing protected sites, you will be prompted for Touch ID.

Delete the site entry and add it automatically

  1. Delete your site entry (instructions here).
  2. Add your site back automatically – in your web browser toolbar, click the inactive LastPass icon .
  3. Enter your username and your LastPass Master Password, then click Log In. An active LastPass icon is now displayed in your web browser toolbar to indicate a successful login.
  4. In your web browser, navigate to your desired site.
  5. Enter your username and password for the site and proceed to log in.
  6. When the Add to LastPass? window appears, click Add.

Delete the site entry and add it manually

Additionally, if your site uses a multiple-page login, you can use this feature to save your site information for each separate page when you add your site.

  1. Delete your site entry (instructions here).
  2. Add your site back manually – in your web browser toolbar, click the inactive LastPass icon .
  3. Enter your username and your LastPass Master Password, then click Log In. An active LastPass icon is now displayed in your web browser toolbar to indicate a successful login.
  4. Navigate to your desired site.
  5. Fill in your login data but do not log in. If desired, you can generate a secure password.
  6. Click the LastPass icon > Add item > Save All Entered Data at the bottom of the menu. For Internet Explorer users, click the LastPass icon > Tools > Save All Entered Data.
  7. All captured fields are displayed. If desired, enter more information and specify your desired settings for the item.
  8. Click Save when finished.

Confirm that LastPass is installed and enabled

If the LastPass icon does not appear in your web browser toolbar, be sure that the LastPass web browser extension is installed and enabled.

Confirm that you are logged in to LastPass

If an inactive LastPass icon appears in your web browser toolbar, click the icon then log in with your username and Master Password.

Confirm that autofill is enabled in your Preferences

Check your Preferences by doing either of the following (based on your navigational view):

  • Click the LastPass icon in your web browser toolbar, then go to Preferences > General > Enable the setting Automatically Fill Login Information > Save.
  • Click the LastPass icon in your web browser toolbar, then go to Account Options > Extension Preferences > Enable the setting Automatically Fill Login Information > Save.

Check that the site is not Flash-based or Silverlight-based

LastPass does not support either of these platforms. To check if your website is built on one of these, right-click on the website's login fields and view the context menu for more information.

Confirm if the site is using HTTP (not HTTPS)

For security purposes, autofill via LastPass will not occur on initial page load because the site is not secure, however, you can still manually fill your data for sites that use HTTP.

Check if you set your Preferences to warn before filling insecure forms

If this Preference is enabled and the site you are visiting uses an insecure method of submitting data, you will encounter a message, 'LastPass detected a login form that is insecure, would you like to continue?' You can click OK to use autofill, or Cancel to manually fill (if desired).

You can enable or disable this setting in your Preferences by doing either of the following (based on your navigational view):

  • Click the LastPass icon in your web browser toolbar, then go to Preferences > Advanced > Enable or Disable the setting Warn before filling insecure forms > Save.
  • Click the LastPass icon in your web browser toolbar, then go to Account Options > Extension Preferences > Enable or Disable the setting Warn before filling insecure forms > Save.

Confirm the site has not been set as a Never URL

You can disable LastPass for specific websites using Never URLs. If it has and you want to remove it so LastPass can be used on the site, do the following:

  1. Log in to LastPass and access your Vault by doing either of the following:
    • Go to https://lastpass.com/?ac=1 and log in with your username and Master Password.
    • In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon then click Open My Vault.
  2. Click Account Settings in the left navigation.
  3. Click the Never URLs tab.
  4. If your site is listed, click the Delete icon .
  5. Click OK to confirm.

Lastpass Mac App Not Working Free

Find LastPass in the App Store and click GET to install the app.

Open LastPass by clicking on the LastPass App icon.

Once opened, the LastPass Menu Bar icon will appear in the Menu Bar.

Click the LastPass icon to launch the app and login.

Once logged in, the Menu Bar icon will turn from gray to black.

The LastPass App Vault stores all of your Sites, Secure Notes, and Form Fills. When an item in the Vault is selected, the Details pane will appear on the right.

Vault Features:

  • Toggle between viewing Sites, Secure Notes, FormFills, or Favorites from the left menu.
  • Add a new Site, Secure Note, or FormFill by clicking ‘+ADD’ at the top.
  • Click the Star icon to mark an entry as a Favorite.

Quick Search & Hotkeys

Make your LastPass for Mac experience faster by using Quick Search and hotkeys. The Vault and Quick Search can be opened by clicking on the Menu Bar icon, or you can use the following hotkeys (these can be changed in Preferences):

  • SHIFT+COMMAND+L (⇧⌘L) – Open Quick Search
  • Enable in Preferences – Open the Vault

With Quick Search, you can quickly search for any item in the Vault.

Start typing in the search field and Quick Search will start filtering your logins.

Like the Vault, clicking on the Launch button will launch the site in the default browser and clicking on the Copy button will copy the password. Pressing the Enter key will also launch the site into the browser. Using CMD+C will copy the password.

Preferences

Open Preferences by clicking on the LastPass Menu Bar icon and selecting Preferences. In Preferences, accordion-item your security preferences to control when the LastPass for Mac app logs out and in. Change your hotkey preferences to new keys if desired.

Touch ID Bar

To unlock the LastPass app with your fingerprint via the Touch Bar, follow the steps below:

  1. Setup Touch ID for your Mac if you have not already
  2. Enable “Use Touch ID” in Preferences (as pictured above).
  3. When unlocking the app or accessing protected sites, you will be prompted for Touch ID
  4. On the touch bar, tap your fingerprint as indicated by the touch bar notification

To logout, choose Log Off from within the Menu Bar icon. Select Quit LastPass to quit the app.
